DP1 Firmware

It is possible to download SIGMA DP1 Firmware.
The firmware is a program, which runs inside the camera and controls its operation.

New Camera Firmware Update Now Available for Download

  • SIGMA DP1 Firmware Ver.2.00

This firmware update should be applied to any DP1 camera that has firmware Ver.1.04 and lower.

* If your camera already has firmware Ver.2.00, you do not need this update.

Benefits of This Firmware Update

[Ver. 2.00]

  1. It is possible to allocate different functions to each of the Digital Zoom buttons.
  2. When the image is magnified in the review display, the magnification ratio will appear.

  1. A customizing function has been added to the Digital Zoom button.
  2. The ft (feet) indicator has been added to the scale bar in MF mode.

How to Confirm the Firmware Version

    Turn on camera power.

    Press the MENU/OK button on the back of the camera to open the Set Up menu.

    Select "Firmware" menu.

    Use the 4-Way Controller to open the sub menu and then select "Current version".

    The installed firmware information will be displayed.

* If the version information is "Ver.1.04" and lower, it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.

* Please note; this firmware cannot be used with the SIGMA SD DSLR series.

How to Update

Caution (Firmware Update)

If the camera is turned off during the update procedure, it might cause a malfunction and damage your camera. To avoid causing a malfunction, please read the following carefully before updating the firmware.

  • Please use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery.
  • Do not open the BATTERY/CARD COVER or operate the camera during the firmware update.
  • Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.

How to Update The Firmware

  1. Please use 256MB or larger SD/SDHC card and format the card in the camera body.

    * To avoid loss of your important data, please check the SD/SDHC card before formatting.

  2. Firstly, please download the "dp1v200.bin" file. Please connect a card reader containing the SD/SDHC card or the DP1 to your computer and click the Download button or right click on the mouse (if you use a Macintosh computer, please press Control + click) to store the firmware file in the SD/SDHC card root directory (Please do not store in subfolder such as "DCIM").

    * If the firmware is downloaded whilst the camera is connected to your computer, please turn off your camera before disconnecting it from your computer.
    * Please download only "dp1v200.bin" file. It is not possible to update the firmware properly, if the "dp1u200.bin" file is in subfolder.
    * Please download the "dp1v200.bin" file, firstly. It might cause a malfunction and damage your camera, if you start updating the firmware with the "dp1u200.bin" file before the "dp1v200.bin" file.

    Insert the SD/SDHC card containing the firmware into your camera and turn on the DP1.

    * It is not necessary to connect the camera body to your computer.

    Press the MENU/OK button on the back of the camera to display the Set Up menu.

    Select the "Firmware" menu.

    Press the right button of the 4-Way Controller to open the sub menu and select "Firm update", then press the MENU/OK button to display the following message.

    Press the MENU/OK button again to start the firmware update. (It takes about two minutes to update.)

    When the "Firmware update is completed" message is displayed, the update has finished.

    * Please do not operate the camera until the "Firmware update is completed" message is displayed.
    * After completing the first update, all camera settings will be returned to the default setting. Please select the desired language from the "Language" menu.

    Select "Current version" from the Set-up Menu and confirm the firmware is updated to "Ver.2.//". If "Ver.2.//" is displayed, the first update is complete. Please format the card and continue the update procedure from STEP:10.
  10. How to Update:Error
    If "Firmware update has failed!" is displayed during firmware update, please repeat above installation from STEP 1. If the update continues to fail, please visit the following technical support page for our World Network contact details.
